The problem of climate change is worse than ever, yet it is not one of the main issues on the agenda for most politicians and voters- we need to change that! The election will most likely be in May, meaning we have 2 months to have these important conversations and make climate change a priority for voters, showing politicians that our future does matter.

The AYCC Sydney Team is holding a volunteer training event, where we will be training you how to have productive, meaningful conversations with people about climate change and the election. During this training you will be equipped with skills and knowledge to ensure you are prepared and comfortable having conversations with the general public, and ensure we hit our target of having 10,000 climate conversations before the election.

We will cover:

• Connection: how to form connections with people in order to start the conversation, to see what the general public’s main concerns are
• Context: giving people the facts about climate change, and building empathy for those affected
• Commitment: using scorecards and pledge cards to ensure the general public are voting with climate change in mind
• Catapult: gaining more potential climate activists and volunteers, and sharing our message
• We will also cover how to deal with common objections, so you will be prepared and informed for any and all conversations
