Disarm Middle Arm Community Mural

Posted on Nipaluna/Hobart by Kai Harrison · March 29, 2023 7:13 PM

Disarm Middle Arm! We know that pollution from burning fossil fuels like gas are causing more extreme weather, yet big corporations are lining up to open up risky new gas wells, pipelines and power plants across the continent - putting their corporate profits ahead of a clean and safe future for all of us.

The Labor government has committed $1.9 billion to an industrial precinct called Middle Arm located near Darwin in the Northern Territory to export and process gas. Middle Arm is a gas hub that will open up the Northern Territory to fracking, as the key site for gas manufacturing and export overseas.

Join us before the federal budget in May to show Labor that it's time to put their money where their mouth is on climate and rule out funding the Middle Arm Project. Drop into Wellington Court to participate in our community mural and chat with us about Middle Arm.

Wherever we are in this country we respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land and their elders past and present. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have lived sustainably and in harmony with the land for tens of thousands of years and together we are striving for the future of the land, air and waters that make up this beautiful country. We also acknowledge the work of Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network, and their leadership in the youth climate movement.
