AYCC National Director

Western Sydney Organiser

AYCC is looking for a young person to join our team in Sydney! This person will drive the growth, training and support of our Western Sydney branch of volunteers and support other volunteer groups across New South Wales. The role will build public awareness of climate impacts and climate injustice by elevating stories of how climate change is affecting and will affect Western Sydney. This role on any given day will support existing volunteers and will include building and training grassroots groups across the state, working to support central campaigns as well as lead on their own climate justice campaigns and support our Switched on Schools program. This is also a participant role in Democracy in Colour's People of Colour (POC) Placement Program - a 10 month on-the-job training program for emerging campaigners of colour. This program is about finding emerging campaigners of colour, supporting their talent, and pushing organisations to centre their voices for real, lasting change. It places emerging leaders in paid traineeships in advocacy NGOs alongside a training and mentoring program run by Democracy in Colour. As part of the program, you will work 4 days per week within AYCC's organising team, and spend on average 1 day per week participating in training and professional development as part of the POC Placement Program.

 

Digital Organiser

We're hiring a Digital Organiser to help AYCC’s grassroots organising work continue to scale and strengthen through the effective use of digital tools. You’ll play an important role in database management -and help ensure that anyone, anywhere has the resources to participate in our campaigns. See the full position description here.

Step Up for Climate Justice Fundraiser Caller

Step Up for Climate Justice will be AYCC and Seed’s major national peer-to-peer fundraising campaign in 2019, asking our supporters to step up and challenge themselves to raise vital funds and support campaigns to stop Australia’s biggest coal and gas projects. We’re looking for two passionate young people to join our team as casual recruitment callers from August 5 - September 6, with the potential for ongoing employment. Switched on Schools Mentor- Australia Wide

By joining AYCC's Schools Team, you’ll be taking part in a nationwide movement of young people working to create a more innovative, just and sustainable Australia! Schools mentors play an important role in providing students with the skills, knowledge and networks necessary to create change, empowering them to become the lifelong climate leaders Australia urgently needs. This mentor role is a unique opportunity for volunteers to develop leadership, organisational, campaigning and relationship-building skills. See the full Position Description here.

NSW State Leader(s)

We are looking for a passionate and skilled volunteer leader to coordinate and lead the NSW branch of AYCC in 2019-2020. The State Leaders (4) will coordinate the AYCC NSW branch including managing volunteers, coordinating projects and campaigns and will be tasked with building and growing the branch to #Stop Adani and get fracking banned in the NT in solidarity with our sister organisation Seed. This is an incredible opportunity to gain valuable organising, management and campaigning skills as well as making a meaningful impact on the most important campaigns in the climate movement. This is an incredible opportunity to build the Switched on Schools program across New South Whales. You'll empower hundreds of high school students to meaningfully take action on climate change through training, mentoring and managing a team to deliver in-school climate justice workshops, build our Student Climate Action network, and help plan climate summits for hundreds of students.
