Welcome to the POC Climate Network's September 2024 monthly meeting! We're gathering virtually from all across this vast continent to explore our community, and what it means to be apart of it.
This month's workshop will be with Mitzi Jonelle Tan (she/they), a climate justice activist based in Metro Manila, Philippines. She is the convenor and international spokesperson of Youth Advocates for Climate Action Philippines (YACAP). She is also an organiser with Fridays for Future International and FFF MAPA (Most Affected Peoples and Areas), making sure that voices from the Global South are heard, amplified and given space. A strong voice on anti-imperialism, anti-colonisation, and the intersectionality of the climate crisis, she is committed to systemic change and collectively building a world that prioritises people and the planet through organising, global solidarity and collective action.
We'll be hearing from Mitzi on climate justice & the Philippines - how climate change is impacting the region, what climate justice looks like and stories from the ground.
RSVP for updates!
This is part of the POCCN 'learn-in' series of unpacking ours and our family's experiences of colonisation and how climate change and migration has shaped our lives and where we come to be now.
Looking forward to seeing you there <3
We'll be meeting on Wednesday September 18th, 2024 at 6:30pm (NSW, ACT, Tas, QLD, Vic), 6pm (NT, SA), and 4:30pm (WA).
