Welcome to the POC Climate Network's August monthly meeting! We're gathering virtually from all across this vast continent to explore our community, and what it means to be apart of it.
This is part of the POCCN 'learn-in' series of unpacking ours and our family's experiences of colonisation and how climate change and migration has shaped our lives and where we come to be now. This workshop will be with Dr. Ruchira Talukdar, a co-founder of Sapna South Asian Climate Solidarity, an Australia-based South Asian climate justice network, for effective Global North solidarity for just climate futures in the Global South. Her research and advocacy focuses on comparative aspects of climate justice and climate activism between the Global North and South, and understanding international links between coal and First Nations land rights. She has worked in the environment movements in India and Australia, in Greenpeace, Australian Conservation Foundation and Friends of the Earth, for two decades.
Content includes the Sapna South Asian Climate Solidarity Report, and intergenerational climate conversations with multicultural leaders - including an exciting project the POC Climate Network is running with UNSW, Democracy in Colour and Sapna that you can get involved in!
Looking forward to seeing you there <3
We'll be meeting on Friday 18th August, 2023 at 6:30pm (NSW, ACT, Tas, QLD, Vic), 6pm (NT, SA), and 4:30pm (WA).
