AYCC Magan-djin / Brisbane is collaborating with the brilliant Climate Writers this October - a movement that accidentally started in a living room with a few friends in Sydney and has grown exponentially into a hub project across the country and recently won the Global Shapers Innovation Prize of 2026!

“Climate Writers is a grassroots community that bridges the gap between what people care about and what governments do. We do this by building communities that make climate action fun and easy. Every month we bring people together to learn about climate solutions from experts like NGO leaders, climate scientists, and technologists and how to use their democratic voice to write to MPs about prioritising climate action for their communities.”

Come along to learn about AYCC’s new national campaign on the fossil fuel industry’s influence on the education system, unpack what this actually means with like-minded people and explore how this issue shows up in your local community. After this deep dive, you will have the opportunity to write to your local MP to express your concern about fossil fuel-sponsored education and ask them to support our campaign demands to ban polluters’ influence in our classrooms and mandate real climate education across Australia!

If you’re feeling overwhelmed or hopeless about climate action, this event is for you.  With the grassroots power of Climate Writers x AYCC, we can kickstart our movement to Expel Fossil Fuels from our Schools!

• Starting time is 12:30pm but if you are short on time you can arrive for 2pm for the learn about the campaign + write emails segment
