This election we saw volunteers at AYCC take action at over 100 polling booths, giving out thousands of scorecards, and having lots of conversations across the country. It was made abundantly clear that the climate crisis is the biggest issue for people across generations. Now, we have a parliament ready to get us much closer to where we need to be.
But there's still so much work to be done.
We know that the Labor Party is still supporting new fossil fuel projects, and their 2030 target for reducing emissions by 43% is not enough to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees - which is what we need to aim for according to the science.
That’s why we need to come together to create an action plan for Western Sydney - to hold our newly elected government accountable to our visions for climate justice.
We’re running space in Parramatta to debrief after the election and create an action plan together for Western Sydney. Will you join us?
Meet us at The Oven in Club Parramatta at 12.30pm!
