We’ve just had the climate election, with millions of people across the country voting for ambitious climate action. From the “greenslide” in Queensland that saw a tripling of Greens MPs in the Lower House, to the scores of teal independents winning off the back of climate platforms, one thing is clear; more than ever, Australians want our federal government to take the bold, urgent climate action that we need.
Community organising won this election! And if we’re going to stand up to the influences of the fossil fuel lobby and conservative media and ensure that Labor implements the strong climate action they’ve promised, we’re going to have to keep building a bigger, stronger, and more committed movement to make that happen.
Lots of young people joined our movement through Youth Decide and election day action and we want to make sure we hit the ground running with easy, impactful action that welcomes new folks into our groups. Letters are a great tool to build relationships with members of Parliament so that we can push the new government to raise their ambition on climate change and centre justice.
