The Australian Youth Climate Coalition may revise or amend this policy at any time at our sole discretion. If we make any substantive changes in the way we collect or use personally identifying information provided by users, we will post a prominent announcement on our web site home page and post the changes on this page. We will never change our policies and practices to make them less protective of user information collected prior to the effective date or any changes without the consent of the affected uses. We encourage uses to visit this page periodically to review our current policy.
How we collect your information
We collect information from you directly. We collect personal information about supporters, volunteers, employees, contractors and visitors to our events. We collect your information in the following ways:
- face to face contact
- electronically including through our website and online surveys
- during phone calls
The types of personal information we collect
- contact details (name, address, telephone numbers, email, etc);
- donation history; and
- credit card and/or bank account details.
How we use your information
When you register, contribute, sign up to volunteer, or take any other action on our website, we may ask you to give us contact information, including your name, address, telephone number and/or e-mail address. We may also obtain information about you from outside sources (e.g. Facebook) and combine it with the information we collect through this website. We use this information to operate this website, send you news and information about the Australian Youth Climate Movement, contact you for your participation in campaigns, events and activities, and obtain and confirm RSVP’s to events and programs. You may opt-out of receiving messages from Australian Youth Climate Coalition by sending any email to [email protected] and asking that you not receive future email messages, text messages or phone calls. You may also opt-out by following the unsubscribe link at the bottom of each email.
We only use your personal and sensitive information for the reason we collect it as set out above and for the purpose(s) for which it was collected, or as otherwise permitted by law.
The Australian Youth Climate Coalition does not rent, share, sell or trade supporter e-mail addresses and telephone numbers. In addition, we do not rent, share, sell or trade information about what activities or donations supporters have undertaken on our website.
Why we collect your personal information
We collect personal information to allow us to send you opportunities to participate in campaigns and to provide you with information about our organisation, projects and campaigns.
We will always explain the extent of its use at the time you are asked to provide personal information. If you do not want this information to be collected or used by us for these purposes, you can simply "opt out."
How we make sure your personal information is protected
We take appropriate security measures to protect against unauthorised access to or unauthorised alteration, disclosure or destruction of your personal information. These include internal reviews of our data collection, storage and processing practices and security measures, as well as physical security measures to guard against unauthorised access to systems where we store personal information.
Personal information is held only for as long as the personal information remains relevant to the purpose for which it was collected.
Signing Petitions and Sending E-Mails
When you sign a petition or complete a survey on our website, we consider your name, city, state and comments as public information. For example, we may provide compilations of petitions, with your comments, to the public official, company or person to whom the petition is addressed, and/or to the press and/or public online.We will not, however, make your street address publicly available, although we may transmit it to the recipient of the petition. In addition, we may disclose your e-mail address to the recipient of a petition. As a result, you may receive an e-mail response directly from the recipient of the petition. The Australian Youth Climate Coalition is not responsible for further use of your e-mail address by the recipient of a petition.
Information for under 18s
If you are under 18, be sure to obtain your parent’s or guardian’s permission before you send any information about yourself (your name, address, e-mail address, etc.) to us or anyone else over the Internet. We encourage parents to get involved with their children’s usage of the Internet, and to be aware of the activities in which they are participating.

The Australian Youth Climate Coalition is dedicated to keeping your details private. The Australian Youth Climate Coalition uses cookies to allow you to login to your account. Cookies sent to your computer from the Australian Youth Climate Coalition only last while you’re browsing our website. We do not store persistent cookies on your computer.
Whenever you use our web site, or any other web site, the computer on which the web pages are stored (the Web Server) needs to know the network address of your computer so that it can send the requested web pages to your Internet browser. The unique network address of your computer is called its “IP address,” and is sent automatically each time you access any Internet site. From a computer’s IP address, it is possible to determine the general geographic location of that computer, but otherwise it is anonymous.
We do not keep a record of the IP addresses from which users access our site except where you have specifically provided us with information about yourself, in which case we also record your IP address for security purposes. An example of this would be when proceeding to a checkout to finalise an order you may wish to make. After completing the form provided, your IP address will be stored along with a transaction number that allows us to track your order.
Online Donations
Our online donation system is safe and entirely secure with the highest level of encryption possible. When donating to the Australian Youth Climate Coalition, your credit card details which are entered on the form are 100% encrypted. We only store the first and last four digits of your credit card number which allows us to verify which transaction is yours and NEVER store your pin or csv number.
Access and correction
We'll take all reasonable steps to ensure any personal information we collect, use or disclose is up to date and accurate. If you believe personal information we hold about you is not up to date or accurate, you may ask us to correct it. You may ask us to provide you with details of the personal information we hold about you, and copies of that information. We will respond to your request and attempt to provide you with the data within 30 days of receipt of your request.
If we provide you with copies of the information you have requested, we may charge you a reasonable fee to cover the administrative costs of providing you with that information. Please direct all request for access and correction to: [email protected]
Breaches to your privacy
If you consider a breach of the Australian Privacy laws or your rights in relation to privacy has occurred, you may direct your query to [email protected]u and we will attempt to resolve your complaint.
