The Energy & Climate Change Ministerial Council (ECMC) is a council of Ministers who will be deciding whether fracking companies will pay for their own pollution.
Gas fracking is a dirty industry, polluting water, air, and land, putting health and climate at risk. This year, the Labor government introduced new laws requiring frackers like Tamboran to offset the emissions they pollute in the Northern Territory, but left it vague on who exactly is paying for these offsets. The frackers reckon the government should pay, and use public money to foot the bill.
Come along to this protest, right outside the ECMC meeting venue, to amplify the message: Polluters Must Pay! We’ll be hosting a ‘Morning Show’ skit and we need plenty of people to make up our audience! Hear from our youth climate news team about the weather, latest updates and why fracking must be stopped.
Accessibility: the protest will be outdoors at a location near Optus Stadium that is wheelchair accessible. Please contact Grace at [email protected] with questions regarding accessibility.
