The Energy & Climate Change Ministerial Council (ECMC) is a council of Ministers who will be deciding whether fracking companies will pay for their own pollution.
Gas fracking is a dirty industry, polluting water, air, and land, putting health and climate at risk. Last year, the Labor government introduced new laws requiring frackers like Tamboran to offset the emissions they pollute in the Northern Territory, but left it vague on who exactly is paying for these offsets. The frackers reckon the government should pay, and use public money to foot the bill.
Come along, right outside the ECMC meeting venue, to amplify the message: Polluters Must Pay!
