We’ve just had the climate election, with millions of people across the country voting for ambitious climate action. From the “greenslide” in Queensland that saw a tripling of Greens MPs in the Lower House, to the scores of teal independents winning off the back of climate platforms, one thing is clear; more than ever, Australians want our federal government to take the bold, urgent climate action that we need.
There are big opportunities on the horizon to hold the incoming government to account and demand climate action with justice at the centre! Despite a big win for climate this election we know we're going to need to push the Labor party to go bigger and bolder! The Labor Party still have plans frack gas and open coal mines - and their climate targets will take us well beyond 1.5 degrees C of warming.
With heaps of young people joining our movement across Youth Decide and election day, we want to make sure we hit the ground running with impactful action.
