The Labor Government will deliver their first budget update as the new government this week on Tuesday evening. This should have been an opportunity for the Albanese Government to put their money where their mouth is on climate action by stopping money for polluting fossil fuels and investing in renewable energy and communities already impacted by climate change. But instead the Albanese government has already announced $1.5 billion in public money for the Middle Arm gas plant that will turn gas from the Beetaloo basin into plastic, pesticides, and be used to export gas [1]!
Join us on Thursday to debrief the budget and our pathway to stopping public money for gas! We'll look at the final budget and unpack what this means for us, including our campaign next steps.
