We are seeing the impacts of climate change right now. July was the hottest month on record, and unless we stop adding fuel to the fire, that’s a record that we’ll see broken again and again. But despite this, the fossil fuel industry is pushing ahead with their plans to open climate-wrecking projects that would ensure years of pollution to come.
Companies like Tamboran are pushing to frack in the Beetaloo basin in the Northern Territory, ignoring the concerns of Traditional Owners, NT locals and young people around the country. Fracking the Beetaloo could produce 1.4 billion tonnes of emissions over the project’s lifetime, which is a carbon bomb our climate and communities can’t afford.
The Albanese government has the power to stop these projects, but they need the push to stand up to the gas lobby first. We’re calling on the government to stop dangerous gas expansion, create stronger environmental protection laws, and put our climate and communities ahead of corporate profits.
Will you join young people in calling on the Albanese government to reject this climate-wrecking project?
