This report outlines a comprehensive package of policies for how schools in these two states can be powered by 100% renewable energy and become clean energy hubs for their entire community. You can read the report by clicking here, or watch this explainer video.
This report helped our campaign for solar in schools achieve huge progress in the lead up the Victorian Election, with senior MPs coming out in support of the report. In the final weeks leading up to the election, dozens of students across Victoria held a road trip to the offices of ten key MPs to share the report and discuss their vision for a clean energy future. In NSW, AYCC student volunteers have also been busy meeting with key MPs as part of their ongoing lobbying and engagement around the solar schools package.
Already, our Repower our Schools campaign has seen 70 schools make the switch to renewable energy, with 200 other schools on their way. Late last year, over 50 students in NSW delivered the 1,735 responses from our nation-wide survey to Education Minister Rob Stokes. The survey results showed that 94.3% of people support schools transitioning to 100% renewables, and that 97% want state governments to support this.
