Stop Palmer’s coal mine before it's too late
Clive Palmer is seeking approval for a Mega Coal Mine. This is just another millionaire getting rich at the expense of our climate.
It will be right next to Adani’s Carmichael mine, and it could be even bigger. The project will be two mines and could produce 80 million tonnes of coal per year, in addition to Adani’s 60 million tonnes.
If we want to avoid the worst impacts of climate change, all of the coal in the Galilee Basin must stay underground.
The mine will have a disastrous impact on our climate and the Great Barrier Reef. It is on the doorstep of the Reef and will blow our carbon budget out of the water.
This mega mine could facilitate a number of other mines in the region from starting up. Minister Frydenberg will be deciding on whether to approve the mine and we can make sure he makes the right call.
We need to send a message loud and clear: no mega coal mine.
