SNAP RALLY: Labor don't fail us - Protect climate, reject Woodside’s North-West Shelf Gas Extension!
🗓 DATE: Thursday, 29 May
⏰ TIME: 8am - 9am
📍 WHERE: Anthony Albanese's Office - 334A Marrickville Rd, Marrickville NSW 2204
Right now, Anthony Albanese's Labor Government has a choice to make - to either approve or reject Woodside's polluting North West Shelf gas extension. Will his government protect the climate from further impacts, or fuel the crisis that causes disasters like the NSW floods?
The North West Shelf extension if approved, would be the most polluting proposed fossil fuel project in the southern hemisphere. It would produce 4.4 billion tonnes of climate pollution out to 2070. The project will also damage the Murujuga Cultural Landscape, a 50,000 year old collection of First Nations petroglyphs, that have been nominated for inscription on the World Heritage List.
The North West Shelf extension is the centrepiece of Woodside’s Burrup Hub gas project.
This is happening while communities across New South Wales have been indundated with floods, destorying homes, communities and lives. How many more 1-in-100 year floods and climate disasters will it take before our leaders take real action on the climate crisis? Our generation is growing up in a climate crisis - and young people are going to be on the frontline as climate disasters continue to get worse and happen more frequently.
We need a government that takes decisive action on the climate crisis to prevent climate disasters from getting even worse, and invest in climate resilience to protect our communities, not one that fuels this crisis with another gas approval!
Join us this Thursday to send the Albanese Government a clear message: Protect climate, reject Woodside’s North-West Shelf Gas Extension!
