Training - Climate Campaign Strategy - AYCC QLD

Queensland has a lot of work when it comes to public perception around the urgency and importance of taking action on climate change, yet our communities stand to gain the most by being on the front foot and preparing to lessen our reliance on fossil fuels; get ready for increased intense weather events; and embracing the opportunities of renewable energy. And Queensland is sometimes the strongest bastion for those who think "the climate's always changed / we're doomed anyway / coal is still good for humanity". Let's figure out how to change it!

  • Learn how to think strategically about action on climate change
  • Get the background info to formulate a killer campaign to shift public opinion on climate justice, or the economics of fossil fuels
  • Learn how to get inside the head of a mining executive to figure out what THEY'RE planning to keep fossil fuels viable for as long as possible
  • Give yourself the basic tools to be part of our strategic planning processes for youth climate campaigns, in Queensland and around the country!

*Please note: If you're not under 30, this training is not for you! This session has been designed for young climate action and climate justice volunteers in Queensland. You do not need to be from AYCC to attend, as these skills are broadly applicable to campaigning - but we expect you to be playing a role in the youth climate justice movement!*

WHEN: Saturday, 14th March. Arrive at 10 am for a 10.15am sharp start time.

WHERE: Level 5, 444 Queen Street, Brisbane 4000. There is limited accessible unpaid parking in neighbouring Spring Hill. Brisbane Central Station and numerous CBD bus stops are a short walk away.

LUNCH: Will be provided!

A note on accessibility: The venue is fully accessible by wheelchair. We welcome people of all abilities, diversity of genders, sexual identities, racial backgrounds, cultures, languages and experiences.

Please get in contact with Nick on 0414 963 060 or if you require any adjustments to feel comfortable or to be able to fully participate!

This event is taking place on the stolen land of the Jagera and Turrbul people, whose sovereignty was never ceded. We pay respects to their elders past, present and emerging, as well as pay tribute to the leadership of Seed Indigenous Youth Climate Network in the fight for climate justice.
