VIC: Macnamara Climate Action/Stop Adani Doorknock
On Saturday 27th October we'll be having conversations in the Macnamara electorate (previously Melbourne Ports) to talk to people about climate change, the Adani mine, and find out what issues they'll be thinking about at the next Federal election. We'll be out knocking on doors for a couple of hours before regrouping for a debrief. After that, we will also be going for a bite to eat 🍕🍺 - join us if you can!
Never been to a doorknock before? That’s OK! We’ll make sure you have all the materials, training and support you need to have a fab afternoon building your skills and having the conversations we need to to shift the major parties to #StopAdani. ✊🏾
Come out and make a difference with a group of other passionate young people!

Why are we doorknocking?
As individuals the challenge posed by climate change can seem overwhelming, but when we work together we really can make a difference. Taking action to tackle the climate crisis not only helps build a movement it also makes you feel empowered and connected to others. 😍
The liberal party recently suffered a 20% swing against it in the seat of Wentworth, (Malcolm Turnbull's old seat). A grassroots, pop up campaign harnessed people power (in part motivated by frustration at lack of action on climate) and made one of the bluest blue ribbon seats marginal. Scott Morrison’s response to this dressing down from the people of Wentworth: We hear you.
Well here in Victoria we also have something to say to Canberra: we want strong action on climate change, and we don’t want Adani to go ahead!
We know that conversations are the most powerful way to motivate people to act - so in the lead up to the next Federal election, we'll be having conversations with people on their doorsteps! We'll be talking about why climate justice is so critical, and how anyone can use their voice to make climate change the #1 issue at the next election. 💪🏾
Strategically, the marginal seat of Macnamara (previously Melbourne Ports) is one of the most effective places to motivate people and show our pollies that we want a positive and safe future, that doesn't involve the Adani mine (or any other new fossil fuel projects!) going ahead.
That's why we will be out on Saturday to doorknock in St Kilda! We'll be having conversations with constituents to find out what issues they care about, talk to them about the particular issue of climate change, and show them how powerful the community can be. 🔥🔥🔥
