Intro to Sustaining Activism and Self Care Brisbane

Sustaining Activism & Caring for Yourself
The workshop has been written by Mel McAuliffe who has adapted it for AYCC volunteers from the work of Huda Fadlelmawla.

We hope that this will be the first in a series of workshops on Sustainable Activism and Self Care.

In this introductory workshop we'll chat about how the modern view of self care is quite capitalistic and inaccessible - self care does not have to be a bubble bath or an overpriced smoothie/yoga class.
We will also provide you with the basic principles of self care and frameworks to start better looking after yourself, and understand the difference between self soothing and self care.
Please bring a notepad and pen along (no laptops). We will be holding it in Orleigh Park, West End, with picnic blankets and snacks.
In tandem with these workshops we also want to create space for people to give time to themselves.
Rose will be hosting a second bike maintenance workshop on the Friday before this workshop.  If you feel like you need to chat through anything that's weighing on you please come along for some tea and chats + a lil bike fixing on the side: https://www.facebook.com/events/1358910477601577/
