We kicked off Term 1 with our first schools summit in Victoria, bringing together 100 students from 9 high schools in the electorate of Federal Environment Minister, Josh Frydenberg. The summit culminated with a creative ‘youth parliament’ action, where students shared their plans for repowering their schools, and called on Minister Frydenberg to keep coal and gas in the ground and transition to renewable energy.
We then headed to Sydney for the annual Earth Hour Youth Sustainability Summit in Northern Sydney. 150 students from 13 high schools across Sydney attended the 2 day event, learning about renewable energy, community energy hubs and gained skills and tools to lead the transition to renewable energy in their schools as part of Earth Hour Schools Day.
We still have 3 transformational schools summits in 2017 and would strongly encourage you to register students as soon as possible to avoid missing out! Register for our summits in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth.
If we aren’t running a summit in your state, we also offer in-school climate justice workshops to engage students with the challenges and opportunities of climate change. Register for an in-school workshop this term.
