Solidarity with coal impacted communities

We urgently need a national plan to get us off fossil fuels and on to clean energy. We need to ensure workers and communities are given the certainty they deserve to plan a vibrant and sustainable future beyond coal.

We all know that we need to stop burning fossil fuels and begin the transition to renewable energy  in Australia as soon as possible. We need to be planning to shut down our coal power plants and replace them with clean energy. The International Energy Agency just this week released a report saying that developed countries should phase out all coal fired power stations by 2035

Right now in the Senate, the Greens and Labor are running an inquiry to work out exactly how we close coal and ensure workers and communities are supported through the transition. Moving Australia beyond fossil fuels is a big deal, and communities shouldn’t be left to do it on their own. On the 17th of November, representatives from frontline communities in the Latrobe Valley will give evidence to this inquiry here in Melbourne.
Can you join us on the steps of Parliament House in Melbourne to support community members from the Latrobe Valley and call for a national coal closure plan?
