AYCC & Seed Volunteers met over 100 politicians

At AYCC and Seed, we love standing side by side with donors who make everything we do possible. So we decided to ask, what other amazing things are you doing for the environment?

By now the election is old news, but we don’t want the same to be said of politicians’ election promises! That’s why over the last 2 months AYCC and Seed volunteers have been meeting with MP’s and Senators to let them know young people are switched on and ready to talk climate.

A highlight was the office of Josh Frydenberg (the Environment Minister) reiterating Malcolm's election promise to give no federal funds to Adani’s coal port on the Reef coast, and that our campaigning made this a reality. We've reminded over 100 of our leaders from across party lines that we want action on climate, and that means keeping fossil fuels in the ground and transitioning Australia to renewable energy.

Culminating in Canberra, AYCC and Seed Volunteers came together for a huge lobby day with dozens of meetings, resulting in some pretty major outcomes: we ramped up the pressure on pollies regarding the proposed cuts to ARENA (Australian Renewable Energy Agency) and helped save $800 million from the chopping block.

This shows that when we stand together we cannot be ignored!
