Accommodation Options

You’ll need to find your own accommodation for Power Shift, but here are some cheap suggested options!

Canberra

*16-17 year-olds must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or teacher who has explicit duty of care over them. Under 16s are not allowed to stay here.

AYCC supervised accommodation (Fri & Sat nights)
Turner Scout Hall, 5 Masson St (1.2km walk from ANU).
Facilities: Toilets and showers.
Cost: $10 for the weekend, pay on arrival.
Bring: sleeping bag, mat and very warm clothing.
Booking: 30 places only so reserve your place by emailing
lisa.caripis@youthclimatecoalition.org with your name and mobile number.
*NB You must have registered and paid for Power Shift or hold a scholarship; preference will be given to under 18s or low-income participants.

Guild Hall, 33 Myers St Geelong (10 minute walk from Deakin Uni).
Facilities: Toilets, no showers.
Cost: $10 for the weekend, pay on arrival.
Bring: sleeping bag, mat and very warm clothing.

*NB You must have registered and paid for Power Shift, or be a scholarship holder.

BILLETING OFFERS – these are people who are offering space in their houses to billet people coming to Power Shift.  If you need a place to stay, please contact these people directly on their email addresses below.
CANBERRA:

Mic Smith – mic.smith@actchamber.com.au or 0416 299 95 – Up to 5 (couch for 2 and a mattress on the floor for 2-3). Kingston (7-8km from ANU), talk to Mic about arranging transport.

Linsey Cole – linsey.cole@youthclimatecoalition.org – 2 people, sleeping in the same room.
Sean Munro – seanmunro_si@hotmail.com - 3 people, one in a bed and a couple on the floor of a granny flat.

GEELONG:
Andrew Russell – a.russell.aus@gmail.com South Geelong (walking distance from the CBD) – 7 people inside, 3 people in small tents in the yard, 2 of which we can provide.

Transport Options

Please consider your environmental impact when thinking about how you will get to Power Shift 2010. Why don’t you think about catching public transport, riding your bike or getting your friends together and car pooling if you need to drive.
