Now more than ever, when the world is building walls we need to empower young people to tear them down.

At the AYCC and Seed, we have spent the last decade building a movement of young people who understand social and environmental justice, and we will keep fighting until we have achieved the future that we deserve.

There has never been a more important time for a strong youth movement across the world. Right now in the US high school students are walking out of classrooms in protest, First Nations youth are leading the fight to stop the North Dakota Access Pipeline, and young people in Marrakesh are speaking truth to power at the UN climate talks. In Australia we are fighting to protect country from dangerous gas fracking and doing everything we can do make sure Adani can’t destroy the Reef and our climate.

President-elect Trump’s denial of the generational responsibility to protect our climate is dangerous for today and tomorrow. As world leaders discuss the details of keeping global warming below 1.5 degrees in Morocco at the UN climate talks, the US election has raised the stakes for the rest of the global community.

Right here in Australia, we must stand stronger than ever for the world we want to grow up in. Last night, in the noise of it all, the Queensland government passed a bill to give Adani special treatment and $100 million of free precious groundwater - shocking!

Young people have the hope, passion and energy to protect our future from corruption, racism and greed.

This election was a sign that the world is desperate for change. People from all sides of the political spectrum felt let down by a system that only works for an elite few, rather than for everyone. It's up to us to break down the walls and rebuild a just and sustainable world together.

We know we have work to do, and we will continue to stand together at the AYCC and Seed to empower young people about the importance of respecting those who have looked after this land for generations, of protecting our beautiful country for our own grandchildren, but most importantly, for the hope that means we will never stop fighting.

Will you stand with us today by supporting the next generation of social and environmental leaders?

Look after yourself and those around you,

With hope,

Kirsty, Millie and Larissa,

National Directors of AYCC and Seed
