Paid positions

We don’t have any paid positions at the moment, sorry! Check out our great volunteer roles below instead.

Exciting opportunity – delegates to the UN climate talks in Cancun, Mexico in Nov/Dec 2010.

We’re looking for 12 people to travel to Mexico for the UN climate talks as part of our Australian Youth Delegation 2010.  You’ll need to raise the funds to get to Mexico, but you’ll be part of an inspiring team that will make a real difference on international climate policy and campaigning.  We’re also looking for 12 people to volunteer a significant amount of time during Nov/Dec in Australia to support this team.

Interested?  Download the information pack here, and then fill out and send us an application form.

Applications close on 30th July.

Coming to Power Shift in Geelong, Canberra or Adelaide this August will greatly increase your chance of being selected for the team, as we prefer our team members to have attended an AYCC conference to learn about our working style, our strategy and meet other AYCCers.  You can register for Power Shift here.

Please send your completed application form and CV to international@youthclimatecoalition.org

Volunteer Positions

The AYCC is primarily run by a large network of dedicated and passionate volunteers. Whether you can do a few hours a week, or a few days – we need your skills. The roles below require passion and a can-do attitude – you don’t have to have any previous volunteering experience.

You don’t always have to work from the office, and we know you have study and other work commitments, so we’re a flexible team that will work around what you can offer. As a volunteer you will have a formal induction and an ongoing mentor in your city who is there to guide and support you when you join the AYCC team. If you don’t feel you fit with any of the roles below, please fill in the volunteer form anyway, and we’ll contact you to see if we can find you a role.

Please note, if your role involves working with high school students (which many do) you will be required to undergo a Working with Children Check and a police check.

Videographers & Designers (volunteers)

AYCC’s videos are world renowned – we’re the 42nd most popular not-for-profit Channel on YouTube, and our videos have been viewed by millions of people around the world. From commercial stations like Channel 10 & Sky TV, to YouTube and documentaries shown in schools, volunteering with the AYCC video team gives you a chance to express your passion to solve climate change in a creative way. Designers are also in high demand in the AYCC, designing stickers, tshirts, brochures, posters and leaflets for our campaigns and projects. These roles can be based anywhere in Australia.

Executive Assistant (volunteer)

As the AYCC has grown significantly, the AYCC Director (Amanda McKenzie) and other senior leadership staff need support in managing AYCC projects and external relationships. This will be no ordinary position.  You will be involved in the high level operations of the AYCC -  assisting with all of the facets of the day to day running of a not-for-profit organisation. We need an executive assistant who is highly competent, exceptionally organised, proactive and an excellent writer and communicator.  If you are interested in a job that is diverse, exciting and challenging – and you are ready to take a jump in the deep end with us-  please apply! This role is based in Melbourne.

Online Organising Team members (volunteers)

As AYCC’s membership continues to grow rapidly, our Online presence is becoming increasingly important.  Creating and delivering online campaigns, sending emails to our membership, managing our database and maintaining our website are all responsibilities of the Online Team.  The Online Team will work closely with our Online Director, Nathan Elvery and should have an interest in online outreach and/or web development. Online team members can be based anywhere in Australia, but we’re especially interested looking for people based in Brisbane.

Online positions are for people with one or more of the following skills:

  • Online technical skills: to keep website updated
  • Social media experience: to help manage social media
  • Administration: to help manage communication to our membership

Fundraising Team members (volunteers)

Do you like organising events? Pitching to funders? Doing research for grant opportunities? We’re looking for a passionate group of young individuals to form the core fundraising team.  Fundraising is crucial to ensuring that the AYCC can deliver effective campaigns and can fulfill our mission of building a generation-wide movement to solve climate change before it’s too late.  AYCC’s fundraising will be mainly through grants, individual donors and events. This is a great opportunity to make a huge difference in the youth climate movement, take on a role of considerable responsibility and develop your skills. Fundraising positions are for people with one or more of the following skills and can be based anywhere in Australia.

  • Writing: For writing grants and letters to individual donors.
  • Research: To research grant and other funding opportunities.
  • Event managment: For organising fundraising events, such as balls and movie screenings.
  • Networking: To develop relationships with major donors.
  • Administration: To ensure that all monthly donors receive an introductory letter and quarterly emails.

If you’re interested in any one of the above roles, please fill out this AYCC volunteer information form.

And finally – if you’d like to volunteer but haven’t found a role here that suits you, please keep checking this page because we’ll update it every month or so. You can also always email us: kirsty.albion@youthclimatecoalition.org offering your skills.

Thanks! – The AYCC Team
