Parramatta Lanes Festival: Community Surveying to #StopAdani!
The grooviest fest of the West is BACK & we’re using this opportunity to have a fun time embracing local culture & street food stalls while surveying the crowds about Adani’s dangerous Carmichael mining project in Northern QLD.
During September Shahrad and Georgia from the Western Sydney AYCC team visited Julie Owens MP for the electorate of Parramatta, to find out her take on the Adani mine. Julie says that the $1billion loan that Turnbull plans to lend Adani could be spent on a billion other better things, such as education, protecting heritage sites, and renewable energy! We heard from her directly that she is against Adani’s plans to build the biggest coal mine in Australia’s history, however we feel she needs strong community support so that we can catapult her commitment to the NEXT LEVEL and have Julie Owens MP publicly speak out against the destructive Adani mine.
Our goal is to survey the community at Parramatta Lanes Festival to collect tangible evidence of Parramatta’s support for the condemning of this mine. We will provide a brief training, some conversation tips and the paper surveys on the night from 5pm! We will survey for a few hours until 8pm, then chill out, get some dinner and enjoy the night!
Come along to meet some likeminded individuals and practice being a climate leader in your community to help #StopAdani!
Meet at Parramatta Station at 5pm, to start our action on Church St at 6pm!
