Student Unions Love the Reef

Student Unions across the country are getting behind For the Love of the Reef in full force - here are some profiles from the teams and why they're going without something they love for 2 weeks.

Notre Dame Fremantle Student Association

Em Bagg - President

"Australia's natural beauty and biodiversity are what makes it such an incredible place to live: we need to be respectful of the land and seas that we call home and protect them for future generations"

Daniel Bateman - Treasurer

"So that people realise that we have a responsibility for the Earth!"

Sharna Grigson - Secretary

"To help raise awareness and to help however I can to save the Reef!"

Swinburne Student Union

The Swinburne Student Union cares about our environment and the reef, we would like to leave a habitable planet for future generations including all of its beauty.

Brendan Spackman-Williams - President

"Most people will be well aware of my diet and my love for junk food, coke, kebabs, lollies, alcohol and McDonalds to name a few. Considering I will be giving all of these up plus more over the next fortnight should be more to see that this is an important cause. Please donate, and send through tips of what I can eat!"

Cliff Warren - Environmental Officer

"Because I love the reef, and hope we can protect it for future generations."

Josh Briers - Welfare Officer

"I love the Reef, I love the environment I am doing the 4 degree challenge (giving up Meat, Wheat, Sweet, and Booze) for 2 weeks (18/5-31/5), to help stop the decimation of one of our country's national treasures. Also this is an excellent start to bettering my health."

I ask you all to please support me and my team at the student union through this, give what you can for the love of the reef, and give me plenty of great recipes and suggestions!!

Murdoch Guild

Troy Treeby - Sustainability Officer

"I want a safe climate future and I want to see the Great Barrier Reef protected into the future!"

Brodie Skalko - Clubs officer

"Growing up on the coast the protection of Australia's ocean and marine life that resides there is something that's really important to me. The destruction of the world's largest reef (our Great Barrier Reef) would be a destruction of one of Australia's most loved national treasures."

Megan Brown - Disability Representative
