  • is hosting NSW Training Summit 2017-09-27 20:30:38 +1000

    NSW Training Summit

2018 is shaping up to be the critical year for climate justice. The fight to #StopAdani is heating up, in the past few months we have had hundreds of young people like you joining the movement to protect our future. In our communities we’re taking action to #StopAdani and supercharge a just transition to 100% renewable energy. We’re pumped, and no wonder - Check out what we got up to in July!

Our next step is to ensure that the government doesn’t use $1bn of our taxpayer money  to bankroll Adani's dangerous Carmichael coal mine in Queensland. We've already stopped the money from Australia's big 4 banks. Now it's time for our politicians to stand up against the project, stop the loan and support the transition to 100% renewable energy.

But we're not waiting for them to lead on this - we're getting on with it by training thousands of young people around Australia to repower our schools with renewables and, to pressure our politicians to #StopAdani.

We have the strategy, the inspiration and the momentum to do it - now we need the skills.

Join us on the 2nd and 3rd of December for AYCC NSW's State Summit for an incredible weekend of skill-building, leadership training and everything you need to know to get organised to #StopAdani from building the largest coal mine in Australia. Best of all though, you’ll meet the other amazing and inspiring young people who will be fighting alongside you!

    Here are the details…

    Dates and Times:

    • Saturday, 2nd December - 9:00am – 5:30pm + dinner and party from 6pm

    • Sunday, 3rd December - 9:30am - 5:00pm

Where: Rex Centre, 58A MacLeay St, Potts Point NSW (5min walk from Kings Cross Train station)

What: A weekend of workshops, learning and training to prepare you to be a leader in the climate movement, to #StopAdani and to play a meaningful part in our strategic climate justice campaigns

Who: Every young person (under 30) who wants to learn how to take meaningful action to solve the climate crisis! Friends and people new to AYCC are most welcome.

    Tickets and registration:

    • There’s a range of tickets available - $30 concession, $40 waged or $50 solidarity ticket. Ticket price includes the cost of lunch & snacks for the weekend + dinner on Saturday night!

    • We don’t want cost to be a barrier for you to be involved so we are offering scholarships to those who need assistance.

    • Grab your ticket or apply for a scholarship here

Transport and Accommodation: If you are travelling from regional NSW or outside Sydney we are arranging billeting and transport assistance. (Please note: we will try our best to assist but accommodation and transport is not guaranteed and not part of the ticket price). If you have any questions or would like to know more, please contact Dagher (0431 035 727).

Thanks to AYCC volunteers and the #StopAdani alliance, we're getting closer to stopping the flow of money from the Federal Government to Adani and repowering Australia. Politicians around the country are feeling the pressure. And we know we need to take this to the next level - with hundreds of young people from across NSW getting skilled up and leading the charge to solve the climate crisis. Let's do this!

Registration is essential to attend the summit. Follow this link to register.

If you can't make it but want more info on volunteering please reply or email: james.dagher@aycc.org.au

Malcolm, you said you'd repower Port Augusta, now make it happen.

To the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Minister for Energy and Resources Josh Frydenberg MP,

As a matter of urgency, lock in the finance for building Australia's first large solar thermal plant with storage in Port Augusta.

    2,358 signatures

Clean power on demand and new clean jobs is something the Port Augusta community has fighting for over the last five years. In the wake of the old coal stations closing, building solar thermal in Port Augusta has never been more urgent.

It's time to make solar thermal in Port Augusta happen. With the Liberal, Labor, Nick Xenophon and Greens parties all supporting solar thermal before the election and serious companies ready to build it together we can turn that support into funding for solar thermal in Port Augusta.

Sign the petition to Prime Minister Turnbull and Energy Minister Josh Frydenberg asking them to come through on their promise to the Port Augusta community and sign the dotted line for funding for solar thermal in Port Augusta.

Sign the petition to make sure Malcolm Turnbull put's any applications for funding Adani's coal mine IN THE BIN!

Malcolm, keep your promise: no funding for Adani's dangerous coal mine.

    Dear Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull,

During the election you promised that there would be no public funding for Adani’s mega coal projects, please make sure any of their applications for a loan from the Northern Australia Infrastructure Fund are put in the bin.

    4,105 signatures

Malcolm made a promise to you during the election campaign that there would be no public funding for Adani’s mega coal projects.

Now, he has broken that promise and is offering a $1billion handout to Adani to build their rail line and coal mine as part of the Northern Australia Infrastructure Fund (NAIF). It's also a pipe dream - Adani have said that they don't really need the NAIF money, they're just asking for it because it's there (what an insult to the Australian taxpayer)!

If Adani do get this $1billion funding, then it makes it more likely that domestic and international banks will back it in too. We can't let this happen, so we've got to show how unpopular this move is.

Sign the petition calling on Malcolm to put Adani's applications for the dangerous Carmichael coal projects in the bin so the coal in the Galilee Basin stays underground where it belongs.

What would you rather spend a billion taxpayer dollars on? Let Malcolm Turnbull know by taking a selfie with this poster.
